CME Europe Trading Exceeds 1,000,000 Lots Since Launch

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, announced today that one million contracts have now been traded on its London-based derivatives exchange, CME Europe.  CME Europe launched in April 2014, and the total volume of contracts traded since launch stood at 1,002,497 as of 10 December 2015.

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the Exchange), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), today (Friday) issued a guidance letter on trading halts in securities of listed issuers.  The letter sets out the criteria for and principles of trading halts under the current rules and provides guidance on good practices about trading halts pending disclosures of material information by listed issuers. It also facilitates investors' understanding of the circumstances where trading halts are necessary.

Open Interest For TOCOM Dubai Crude Oil Futures Renews All-Time High For Two Consecutive

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. announced today that Dubai Crude Oil futures open interest reached 72,093 contracts, renewing an all-time high since the launch on September 10, 2001 for two consecutive days. Open interest increased by 14.5% in a day from 62,967 contracts.

IOSCO Publishes third Hedge Funds Survey report

The International Organisation of Securities Commissions today published a Report on the Third IOSCO Hedge Fund Survey that looks at efforts by regulators to better understand the hedge fund industry. The aim of the IOSCO survey is to gather data from hedge fund managers and advisers about the markets in which they operate, their trading activities, leverage, funding and counterparty information. It forms part of IOSCO's efforts to support the G20 initiative to mitigate risk associated with hedge funds. The report explains the results of the third IOSCO survey and provides an overview of the hedge fund industry as of 30th September 2014.

The world is still very confused about bitcoin.  For example, some press are still writing the old stories about the phenomena as an investment: Man buys $27 of bitcoin, forgets about them, finds they're now worth $886k.  It makes for a good headline, but reinforces the view that bitcoin is just some basketcase currency, rather than a currency that should put into a basket of currencies.  This will change.  In fact, some banks are already starting to say bitcoin good, blockchain good, rather than bitcoin bad, blockchain good.
